Booguu Company Limited is a technology spin off company from Hong Kong Baptist University founded by Professor Jeffrey Cheung Ph.D. in 2016. Our award winning data science solutions provide deep insights into body's motion using a wearable sensor, mobile app, and machine learning analytics at edge and on cloud.
Our patented approach delivers evidence-based assessment of gait, balance, and functional mobility in minutes. Results are validated against gold standards. The portable and easy to use solution enables assessment, monitoring, and progress tracking with quantitative and objective measurements anywhere.

Dr. Jeffery Cheung, Ph.D.
Founder & Chief Science Officer
Dr. Jeffrey Cheung received his Ph.D. from Harvard in Chemistry on Molecular Collision Dynamics. He spent his career at Rockwell International across various technical areas. Dr. Cheung has more than 100 peer reviewed publications and over 35 issued patents. He joined Hong Kong Baptist University in 2010 as a Distinguished Visiting Professor to lead the research and development of novel motion analysis technology.
Gary Jin
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Gary Jin is an entrepreneur with 20+ years of experience in data analytics. He spent 13 years at IBM in engineering and sales roles where he received numerous awards including Best of IBM, Outstanding Technical Innovation, Sales Eminence, and 3 consecutive Hundred Percent Club Awards. Mr. Jin has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA and holds 8 patents.
Dr. Thomas Lin, DPT
Senior Vice President and Chief of Healthcare Applications
Dr. Tomas Lin has over 17 years of experience in the physical therapy profession. He specializes in treating spine-related disorders and injures, neck and back pain, and TMJ dysfunction. Dr. Lin has started and owned two successful outpatient physical therapy clinics. Dr. Lin received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from USC.
Dr. Derek Cheung, Ph.D.
Advisor
Dr. Derek Cheung is the former president and CEO of Rockwell Scientific Company, where he spent more than 30 years. After retirement, Dr. Cheung founded the Institute of Technology Advancement at UCLA to facilitate the commercialization of high impact research. Dr. Cheung received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford. He is the author of the highly acclaimed book “Conquering the Electron.”
Dr. Gretchen Swanson, DPT MPH
Science Advisor
Dr. Swanson is the coordinator of the Los Angeles Fall Prevention Coalition, she served on the California Statewide Falls Prevention Coalition steering group. She is advisor to Heart of Ida – a non-profit that monitors the safety-net of 43,000 senior adults. Dr. Swanson received her post-professional DPT in Physical Therapy from USC, and Master of Public Health from UCLA.
